Case Study: Emerson Climate Technologies

Emerson Climate Technologies was approaching a pair of big milestones.

It had been nearly 25 years since Emerson Climate Technologies launched an innovation that changed home air conditioning and commercial refrigeration systems forever – the scroll compressor.


In addition, Emerson was nearing the 100 million mark in Copeland Scroll™ compressor production.

The problem was figuring out how to give milestones like these a celebration they deserved.

Fahlgren Mortine went to work, coming up with an integrated program that was unlike anything Emerson had ever done before.

The idea was to honor the milestones by having each of the eight Copeland Scroll manufacturing facilities turn a compressor into a work of art.

The solution was truly a product of WIDER thinking and one that turned Emerson's anniversary into a success across a number of platforms.

Internally, employees embraced the project, creating spectacular works of art.

The project also created an industry-wide buzz when the compressors were displayed at trade shows.

Finally, by using social media and by utilizing the program as a way to give back to local HVACR schools, the campaign generated major interest in the community.

The results were astounding. Simply put, the campaign was a success on every level.

In fact, the painted Copeland Scroll compressor program generated 135,000 votes on Facebook along with comments in four languages.

It was a milestone celebration that turned into somewhat of a milestone in its own right.
